Those Classic TV shows

Thanks to our local library we have been enjoying some of the old classic TV shows. We started with Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley. I loved watching those again. Then after watching the new Get Smart movie, I told the kids they had to watch the original series. The kids have watched the first season over and over for the past 6 weeks!! I finally had to take it back to the library. Now we have "moved on" to Lost In Space. I only remember watching some of these as a kid. The copyright date of the first season is 1959, and it takes place in the futuristic world of 1997!! Gotta love those alien monsters made from seaweed and trash bags.

Barefoot weather has finally arrived!

Yea! Finally! It seemed like a long time comin'. The weather has finally turned warm. I love it when I can open all the windows and doors and let the breeze blow through. It feels great!
This spring a robin has decided to build her nest in the backyard play house, up on the rafter.
There are two little blue robin eggs. So far mama bird hasn't minded us playing nearby.

College Visits

We've started the process of visiting colleges with LittleA. Right now she's only considering 2, and they both have fantastic music programs, LittleA's passion.
The first, Cornerstone University http://www.cornerstone.edu/, is in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We really enjoyed our visit here. The students and staff were energetic and excited about their school. There was a real sense of community and caring among everyone. They were extremely helpful.
Today we visited Malone University http://www.malone.edu/. Another wonderful Christian university. They also were extremely helpful and showed a caring, committed attitude towards their students.
So the journey continues to the next level. We are excited!

Happy Easter 2009

This Easter we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord Jesus along with BigJ's baptism.

Following worship we headed to our favorite chinese buffet restaurant. This is our annual easter tradition which started at least 9 years ago. There's no waiting in long lines at chinese restaurants on Easter. It's awesome! You can eat right away and no crabby kiddos. And, of course, the food is fantastic; something for everybody.

Later in the afternoon it was time to decorate our easter eggs.
These are works of art, taking the kids several hours to complete.

LittleJ decided to get into the act this year as well, stealing one of LittleA's eggs.

Note his hand is dyed the same color as the egg!!
It's much easier than using those "funky dipper things".

Here are some of their colored-egg creations.
