Four Days at Camp W!

Every summer, for the past 4 years, we have traveled to MI to participate in a summer movie project. It takes place at a friends home ("Camp W"), and is written and directed by her oldest daughter.
This year's movie? The Lord of the Gloves.
She had a wonderful cast of characters, as you would expect if you've ever read the books and or seen the movies.
There were "men"...
...Orcs...

...more Orcs (this is LittleA, btw)...
...and Elves.

There were, of course, Hobbits....
...Gandalf, the wizard......and Aragorn, Boromir, and Legolas.

They had a great time filming this summer's movie! Thanks W's !!
Good Job, Everyone!!

Sherlock Holmes Meets Ballet

LittleE has been taking ballet lessons this year at a local dance studio and this past week was their end-of-year dance show. Her "class" was just 2 girls, so that led to an abundance of individual attention. The theme for the show was "A Trip Through Europe", so her teacher chose Sherlock Holmes and Watson.

Here she is dressed as Watson-- top hat and all. We took these photos upstairs in a lounge off the balcony area of the Palace Theater.
Here she is playing Watson....

...and with her partner, Sherlock, on the streets of London

Here is their dress rehersal performance. I had to separate it into 2 parts in order for it to load. Enjoy! They did a fabulous job!!

I've tried to load part 2 twice now and it doesn't seem to want to. So check back later to see the rest.

It's That Time of Year Again-- VBS!

There was much stress this past week over decorating for Vacation Bible School. For the past 5 years or so, we have been using Cokesbury's VBS curriculum and really enjoying it. This year it's a space theme. We will be traveling the universe in our galactic starship.

Here it is. I think it turned out great, despite all the stress it caused me throughout the week.

The mural we purchased from Cokesbury, and the starship command deck was pictured in their decorating manual. Once we built the basic shell from a table, an appliance box, and old computer equipment, we then added the details. That was the fun part, and BigJ did most of the design work.

We weren't quite sure what to make for the puppet theater this year, but ended up with an escape pod. Doesn't every starship have one of these?
Tonight's the first night. I think we're going to have a great time!!

It's Finally Tour Time

The Summit Choral Society Touring Choir left at 12:30 pm to begin their southern tour. Everyone was gathering right on time and Mr. Cook, one of the choir managers, was getting them checked in. LittleA's trying to get her stuff into the big bus.

Here she is waiting with a friend while others still arrive. They loaded up right on time and headed toward Charleston, WV for a concert tonight. Tomarrow they are traveling down to Atlanta for a concert Saturday night and Sunday morning.

There will be plenty more stops before they arrive back home next Thursday.

They had their Bon Voyage concert Wednesday night. Here is a short clip I edited from one of their pieces called Chantez a Dieu (Psalm 96) by Eleanor Daley, sung in French. They have a total of 11 pieces, sung in English, French, Hebrew, and Latin.

They were fantastic!! We are so proud of them and know they will do well on their tour.

What's The Special Occasion?

As a member of the Summit Choral Society Touring Choir, LittleA had her final spring concert a few weeks ago. During this concert they recognize the graduating seniors, and allow them to "dress up" in something other than their uniforms. Here is the full touring choir. If you look closely, there are 6 young men in the choir this year who have been able to maintain their treble voices.
They also present the graduating seniors with $500 scholarships to their college of choice. For LittleA it's Cornerstone University, where she will study Worship Arts as a voice major. Here are the 6 graduating seniors from this season.
And here is the full children's choir as they finished singing two songs together. This is such a wonderful program and we are so blessed to have been a part of it for the last 3 years. They do an outstanding job teaching these kids to sing well.
So what's next for LittleA?? They are continuing to practice hard as they have a concert next Wednesday evening where they will perform their full slate of music for their upcoming tour, which will take them south to Atlanta and many points in between.
